this folder contains all revisions of chpizel's music for dicey dungeons that made it into a build of the game, spanning from her first work on the game to the penultimate release candidate. the versions found in the final game are omitted. what follows are various notes.

for your intrigue the sound effects from v0.15 are also available in 0.15/sfx/ and differ from the final sound effects. ("lowhealth" was originally in sfx but since it is considered a song it is instead in the outer 0.15/ folder.)

most of these were publicly accessible in the alpha builds on itch.io but the closed betas contained some unique versions as well which are preserved in the rc5 (release candidate 5) folder.

dicey dungeons did not switch from using mp3 files for its music until v0.13 (or v0.12 maybe); chipzel's music first appears in v0.11. for completeness the songs that are duplicates of the v0.11 songs but in ogg instead of mp3 are included (0.13/mus_title.ogg, 0.15/combat1.ogg, 0.15/combat2.ogg, 0.15/combatboss.ogg)

of note 0.16/combat3.ogg was *only* used in 0.16, 0.17 used the 0.13 version of combat3. also, rc5/combat5.ogg, while appearing in the "rc5" folder, is one of the earliest revisions made for the closed beta; which beta version it first appeared in is lost now apparently

all "atmos" songs in 0.16 are identical; only atmos_castle.ogg is included.

many early versions of dicey had "filter" versions of combat songs that played in the overworld; these are simple low-passed or high-passed versions and were found too trivial to include. the exception is combat4filter which is actually a unique version of combat4.

there are two known revisions that i could not recover:
0.12? combat3 (the intro/build-up is absent compared to later versions)
rc4 combat2 (the little break at 0:16 of final combat2 (fighting chance) is missing)
and one revision that may or may not have existed:
combat3 in roughly its final form (swing me another 6) has been around since, like, the very second beta version, and from what i remember hearing it didn't change *at all* since then. this makes me suspicious and there might've been some slight differences i didn't pick up on.

some songs never made it into the final soundtrack in any form, these are:
	0.15/combat2.ogg (and its mp3 version in 0.11)
	0.15/combatboss.ogg (and its mp3 version in 0.11)
	0.15/atmos_castle.ogg
	0.15/atmos_crystal.ogg
	0.15/atmos_gameshow.ogg
	0.15/atmos_jungle.ogg
	0.15/atmos_library.ogg
	0.15/atmos_swamp.ogg
	0.15/lowhealth.ogg
	0.16/atmos_castle.ogg

also, some of the ingame files in the final version of dicey are still different than how they are mixed on the bandcamp OST, but if you own dicey dungeons you already have those in soundstuff/music/ (and they're not *early*) so they're considered outside the scope of this archive.

if you want this in a digestible album form with basic volume balancing (and trimming down some of the longer loops and repeating the shorter loops) please seek out the "album" form of Early Mixes (which should be at wibifortis.org/dd/earlymixes_mp3.zip for V0 mp3, or wibifortis.org/dd/earlymixes_flac.zip for lossless FLAC)
